Distance Medley Relay

The distance medley relay (DMR) is a track and field relay event in which four runners on a team each run a different distance, typically 1200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, and 1600 meters, passing a baton between legs. It tests a range of speed and endurance abilities across the team and is a popular event in collegiate and high school indoor and outdoor track meets in the United States. Coaches strategically assign runners to legs that suit their individual strengths, such as sprinters on the shorter legs and distance runners on the mile leg.
