Sprint Medley Relay
The sprint medley relay is a track and field relay event in which four runners on a team each cover different distances, most commonly in the order of 200m, 200m, 400m, and 800m (sometimes with different combinations), passing a baton between legs. It tests a team's versatility, since it requires athletes with both raw sprint speed and middle-distance endurance, and is a common event at collegiate and relay-carnival meets such as the Penn Relays. Its varied leg lengths make race strategy and runner selection an important part of the event.
