Competition Speed Climbing

Competition speed climbing is a discipline in which two climbers race side-by-side up identical, standardized 15-meter walls with a fixed hold pattern, with the winner determined purely by fastest time. Because the route never changes, elite competitors memorize the exact sequence of moves and train like sprinters, with top times under 6 seconds. It is part of IFSC competitions and Olympic sport climbing, and appeals to athletes who enjoy explosive power and head-to-head racing rather than route-finding.
