Competition Lead Climbing

Competition lead climbing is a discipline in which a climber ascends a tall wall (often over 15 meters) from the ground up, clipping the rope into successive protection points along the route, within a set time limit. Climbers are scored based on the highest hold they reach or control before falling or running out of time, without prior knowledge of the route (on-sight). It is one of the three disciplines in IFSC competitions and Olympic sport climbing, rewarding endurance, route-reading, and composure under fatigue.
