Basque Traditional Weightlifting

Basque traditional weightlifting (harri jasotzea, or stone lifting) is a rural sport in which athletes lift heavy stones, often irregularly shaped cylindrical or cubic blocks weighing over 100 kg, off the ground and onto their shoulder. It evolved from farm labor tasks and is showcased at Basque "herri kirolak" (rural sports) exhibitions alongside events like wood chopping and tug-of-war, celebrating raw strength and technique.
