Basque Pelota
Basque pelota is a family of fast-paced court sports originating in the Basque Country in which players use their hand, a wooden bat, a racket, or a curved wicker scoop (chistera) to strike a ball against a wall, either alone or against opponents. Variants include pelota mano, paleta, and jai alai (cesta punta), the latter famous for its extremely high ball speeds. It is a source of strong regional pride and is played both recreationally and professionally in Spain, France, and parts of Latin America.
