Pelota Mixteca

Pelota mixteca is a traditional Mexican ball game originating with the indigenous Mixtec people of Oaxaca, played by hitting a solid rubber ball back and forth across a court using a heavy, spike-studded leather glove worn on the hand rather than a racket. Teams score points similarly to tennis or volleyball rallies. It remains an important cultural tradition in Oaxaca and parts of the southern United States with Mixtec migrant communities.
