Enterprise Architect
An Enterprise Architect sits at the intersection of business and technology, designing how an organization's IT systems, applications, and data align with overall business strategy, usually reporting to a CIO or CTO in large enterprises. The role relies on structured enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF to guide systems integration decisions and long-term IT strategy across business units. Because the work touches nearly every department, strong stakeholder management and increasingly cloud architecture expertise are essential to gain buy-in and keep technology roadmaps coherent.
Duties & responsibilities
- Align IT systems and applications with business strategy across multiple departments and business units
- Design integration architecture standards and patterns for cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments
- Lead digital transformation and cloud migration initiatives while managing technical risk
- Establish governance frameworks, architectural standards, and technology roadmaps for large-scale systems
- Translate business priorities into scalable system designs and technical recommendations
- Advise senior executives and C-suite stakeholders on complex technology decisions and emerging technologies
- Mentor and oversee teams of architects, principal engineers, or technical contributors
