An Actuarial Analyst applies statistical modeling and probability to assess financial risk for insurance products, pensions, or investment portfolios, typically working within an insurance company's actuarial department. They spend much of their time in Excel and SQL pulling and analyzing data, using R and specialized actuarial software to build pricing and reserving models. This entry-to-mid-level role usually requires progress toward actuarial exams (SOA or CAS) and reports to a credentialed actuary.
