Zouk

Zouk is a genre of upbeat Caribbean popular music that emerged in the 1980s from Guadeloupe and Martinique, popularized internationally by the band Kassav', blending African and Caribbean rhythms with electronic instrumentation. The name also refers to a family of sensual partner dances, including Brazilian zouk (derived from lambada), danced to zouk music or slowed remixes and known for fluid, flowing body movement and close connection between partners.
