Wolf Hunting

Wolf hunting is the practice of pursuing and killing wolves, historically carried out to protect livestock, reduce predation on game species, or for fur, and in some regions today conducted as regulated recreational or population-management hunting. Methods have included traps, poison, organized drives, and rifle hunting, often with hounds, and the practice has driven wolf population declines and extirpations across parts of Europe and North America. It remains controversial, balancing concerns of ranchers and hunters against wildlife conservation and ecological arguments for wolves' role as apex predators.
