Tie-Down Roping

Tie-down roping is a rodeo event in which a mounted cowboy chases a running calf, ropes it by the neck, dismounts, and quickly ties three of its legs together before the animal can escape. It tests the speed and coordination of both horse and rider and descends from ranching skills once used to restrain calves for branding or medical treatment.
