Shuttlecock

A shuttlecock (sometimes called a birdie) is the projectile used in badminton, consisting of a rounded cork or synthetic base with a crown of feathers or plastic skirt attached, designed to create high drag for a fast, arcing flight. Traditional shuttlecocks use goose or duck feathers, while synthetic versions are more durable and used in recreational play. Its aerodynamic design is central to badminton's distinctive combination of speed and finesse.
