Sheaf Toss

The sheaf toss is a traditional Highland Games event in which competitors use a pitchfork to hurl a burlap bag stuffed with straw (the "sheaf"), weighing around 16-20 pounds, over a raised horizontal bar. Judged like a high jump, the bar is progressively raised until only one competitor can clear it, and the event tests explosive upper-body power and technique.
