Shatra

Shatra refers to a traditional chess-like board game found in parts of Central and South Asia, part of the broader family of regional chess variants descended from shatranj. Like its relatives, it is played on a checkered board with pieces representing military ranks, and it survives as a folk pastime alongside more standardized modern chess.
