Pinball

Pinball is an arcade game in which a player uses flippers to keep a metal ball in play on an inclined, obstacle-filled playfield, scoring points by hitting bumpers, targets, ramps, and other features before the ball drains. Mechanical and electromechanical versions date to the early 20th century, evolving into the solid-state, computerized machines with elaborate lighting, sound, and themed rulesets common from the 1970s onward. It remains a popular hobby and competitive pastime, with dedicated collectors, arcades, and tournament circuits keeping both vintage and modern machines in play.
