Makruk

Makruk, also called Thai chess, is a traditional board game from Thailand closely related to the international game of chess and to its shared ancestor, chaturanga. It is played on an 8x8 board without the special two-square pawn move, castling, or en passant found in Western chess, and pieces resemble earlier, weaker forms of the queen and bishop. It remains popular in Thailand, where it is played casually and in organized tournaments.
