Peening Anvil

A peening anvil is a small, specialized anvil used mainly by scythe users and blacksmiths to peen (cold-hammer) the cutting edge of a scythe blade, thinning and hardening the steel to restore sharpness. It is typically a compact metal stake driven into a stump or block, paired with a peening hammer. Its use is central to traditional hand-mowing and blacksmithing crafts that predate grinding-based sharpening.
