Parkour/Freerunning

Parkour and freerunning are closely related movement disciplines involving running, jumping, climbing, and vaulting through the environment; parkour traditionally emphasizes the most efficient path over obstacles, while freerunning, coined by Sébastien Foucan, adds acrobatic flourishes like flips and spins for creative or expressive effect. Both grew out of the same French roots in the late 20th century and are often practiced together in urban settings using stairs, ledges, and walls as a course. Practitioners are drawn to the athleticism, creativity, and freedom of navigating any environment using only their bodies.
