Para Judo

Para judo is the Paralympic adaptation of judo contested by athletes who are blind or visually impaired, using the same throws, pins, and submission holds as mainstream judo but with competitors starting each match already gripping each other's uniform (judogi) so they can sense their opponent's position. It has been part of the Paralympic Games since 1988 and is organized by classification based on degree of visual impairment. The sport attracts participants for its blend of physical technique, strategy, and the trust required between opponents.
