Lapta

Lapta is a traditional Russian bat-and-ball team sport, considered an ancestor of games like baseball and rounders, in which a batter strikes a small ball with a wooden bat and then runs between two lines while fielders try to get them out by hitting them with the thrown ball. It is played on a rectangular field with two teams alternating between batting and fielding roles. The game has roots going back centuries in Russia and has seen a modern revival as an organized amateur and semi-professional sport.
