Kimodameshi
Kimodameshi, meaning 'test of courage,' is a traditional Japanese game in which participants walk alone or in pairs through a dark, eerie location such as a forest, shrine, or cemetery, often at night during summer festivals or school camps. Friends may hide along the route to scare participants, and the activity is a rite-of-passage pastime tied to Japanese ghost-story (yokai) culture.
