Freestyle Fixed Gear
Freestyle fixed gear, often abbreviated FGFS, involves riding a fixed-gear bicycle—one whose pedals are directly linked to the rear wheel so it cannot coast—to perform BMX-style tricks such as grinds, jumps, and skids using the fixed drivetrain to control momentum. It emerged from urban bike messenger culture and is practiced in skate parks and streets, often on bikes modified with smaller frames and stunt pegs.
