Fictional Sports

Fictional sports are games and competitions invented for works of fiction, such as Quidditch from Harry Potter, Blitzball from Final Fantasy, or Rollerball, rather than being real-world sports with established rules and history. Some fictional sports have been adapted into real, playable versions by fans, most famously Quidditch, which became a real-world sport with modified, non-magical rules. Enthusiasts enjoy fictional sports both as storytelling devices that reveal a fictional world's culture and, in some cases, as the basis for real recreational leagues.
