Chueca

Chueca is a traditional stick-and-ball game of the Mapuche people, indigenous to what is now central and southern Chile and parts of Argentina, played with curved wooden sticks used to drive a small ball toward a goal, similar in concept to field hockey. Historically, chueca matches were significant social and ceremonial events, sometimes used to settle disputes between communities or mark important occasions. Though it declined after Chilean colonization, cultural revitalization efforts have helped preserve and reintroduce the game among Mapuche communities today.
