Checkers

Checkers (known as draughts outside North America) is a classic two-player abstract strategy game played on the dark squares of an 8x8 checkered board with 12 pieces per side. Players move their pieces diagonally forward and capture opponents' pieces by jumping over them, winning by capturing all of the opponent's pieces or leaving them with no legal moves; its simple rules but deep tactics make it a lifelong favorite for casual and competitive players alike.
