Casting

In fishing, casting is the technique of propelling a baited hook, lure, or fly out over the water using a rod and reel, requiring skill to achieve accuracy and distance. Beyond practical fishing, competitive casting exists as its own sport, with anglers competing for distance or precision at targets, sometimes called tournament or accuracy casting. Fly casting in particular is prized as a refined skill, with its rhythmic back-and-forth rod motion considered almost an art form by devoted anglers.
