Breaststroke

Breaststroke is one of the four competitive swimming strokes, characterized by a simultaneous frog-like kick and a symmetrical arm pull that sweeps outward and then forward in a circular motion, all performed while the body stays mostly horizontal and face-down. It's often the first stroke taught to beginners because it allows the head to stay above water more easily, though technical mastery of its timing and glide phase is essential for competitive speed. It remains a staple of swim lessons, recreational swimming, and Olympic competition.
