Software-Defined Networking
IT Infrastructure and Networking
Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is a networking architecture that separates the network's control plane (which decides how traffic is routed) from the data plane (which forwards traffic), allowing network behavior to be managed centrally through software rather than configured device-by-device. Network engineers use SDN controllers to dynamically program and automate network behavior at scale, which is especially valuable in cloud data centers. It underpins many modern cloud networking and virtualization platforms.
