Azerbaijani Language
Languages
Azerbaijani is a Turkic language spoken by around 30 million people, primarily as the official language of Azerbaijan and by ethnic Azerbaijanis in northwestern Iran, Georgia, and elsewhere in the Caucasus and Central Asia. It is written in a Latin-based script in Azerbaijan (having previously used Perso-Arabic and Cyrillic scripts) and is closely related to Turkish, with a significant degree of mutual intelligibility. People learn it for business, cultural heritage, or diplomatic purposes in the Caucasus and broader Turkic-speaking world.
