Massachusetts Postings Doubled This Week: 208 New Roles vs 100 the Week Before | Career App Daily

Massachusetts went from 100 new listings one week to 208 the next across the employer boards we track. That is a 108% increase, the largest percentage gain of any of the 12 states with openings on Career App this week, and it happened while the national count on our boards rose a comparatively modest 33%.

Where the state sits

By raw volume, Massachusetts ranks seventh: 208 new roles, behind California (840), Texas (529), New York (443), Florida (415), Tennessee (314) and Ohio (225). It sits just ahead of Illinois at 189 and North Carolina at 184.

By growth rate, the order flips. Massachusetts leads at +108%, followed by North Carolina (+92%), Florida (+77%), Arizona (+76%), Minnesota (+74%) and Tennessee (+71%). The three biggest states by volume all grew more slowly than the national average: California +24%, New York +27%, Texas +36%. Ohio was the only state on the list to shrink, from 229 to 225. Pennsylvania added the least ground of the growers, 149 to 162.

One caveat on the baseline: Massachusetts, Arizona and Minnesota all show exactly 100 new listings in the prior week. Three identical round numbers in the same column is worth treating with suspicion — the percentage change for those three should be read as approximate, and the direction of travel matters more than the second digit.

What we can and can't say about who's hiring

Here the honest answer is a limit rather than a finding. Our weekly employer and occupation leaderboards are national, not broken out by state, so we cannot attribute the Massachusetts jump to any specific company or job title from this packet.

What we can say is which employers drove the national week that Massachusetts is a 2.0% slice of. AdventHealth posted 416 new roles (964 open in total), Cleveland Clinic 319 (903 open), Citigroup 299 (511 open), Tyson Foods 295 and Target 292. Below them: U.S. Bank 241, Jabil 234, JLL 230, NVIDIA 221 and Accenture 216. Two large hospital systems at the top, then banking, food processing and retail. Whether any of that landed in Massachusetts is not something this data resolves — check the state page for the current mix.

The national backdrop

Across all boards we track: 56,999 open listings from 692 employers hiring, with 10,394 new in the last seven days against 7,801 the week before. The comparison excludes boards added since the comparison began, so a state's jump is not an artifact of new boards coming online.

Two numbers keep the week in perspective. First, 20,209 listings closed in the same seven days — roughly twice what opened. Postings are turning over faster than they are accumulating. Second, remote roles were 3% of new listings, so a state count is close to a count of jobs that expect you to be there.

Pay context

Posted salary medians on our boards are national and not split by state, so treat these as background rather than a Massachusetts figure. Among the deepest pools: Software Engineer at a $240,000 median across 1,168 listings, Product Manager at $240,083 across 325, Engineering Manager at $280,000 across 213 and Machine Learning Engineer at $283,500 across a thinner 106. At the other end, Sales Representative posts a $79,250 median across 158 listings. All figures are employer-posted ranges annualized to USD, not what anyone reports earning.
