North Carolina Postings Nearly Doubled This Week: 184 New Roles vs 96 | Career App Daily

By Ben Garves

North Carolina picked up 184 new job postings in the last seven days across the employer boards we track, up from 96 the week before. That is a 92% increase — the second-fastest jump among the twelve states with new postings this week, and close to three times the pace of the overall week.

North Carolina's week vs the prior week

How it sits against the national week

Across every board we track, 10,394 roles opened in the last seven days against 7,801 the prior week, a 33% increase. North Carolina grew nearly three times faster than that, which moved its share of the national week from 1.2% to 1.8%.

That comparison is apples to apples: the week-over-week counts include only boards we were already crawling before the comparison window began, so a newly onboarded employer can't masquerade as a hiring surge.

By raw volume, North Carolina still sits ninth of the twelve states with new postings this week, behind California (840), Texas (529), New York (443), Florida (415), Tennessee (314), Ohio (225), Massachusetts (208) and Illinois (189). It is 5 postings behind Illinois and 24 behind Massachusetts, so the ordering below the top four is close enough that a single large employer refresh could reshuffle it next week.

On growth rate, only Massachusetts beat North Carolina: 208 new roles against 100, a 108% increase. Florida (+77%), Arizona (+76%), Minnesota (+74%) and Tennessee (+71%) all ran hot too. Ohio was the one state that went backwards, 225 this week against 229 last.

Week-over-week change in new postings, by state

What we can't tell you

The brief for this piece asked which employers and occupations are behind the North Carolina increase. This packet does not break employer or occupation counts down by state, and the occupation list for the week came back empty — so we are not going to guess. The employer numbers we do have are national across the boards we crawl, not North Carolina-specific.

For what it's worth, the ten employers that posted most this week across all states were AdventHealth (416 new, 964 open), Cleveland Clinic (319 / 903), Citigroup (299 / 511), Tyson Foods (295 / 573), Target (292 / 616), U.S. Bank (241 / 943), Jabil (234 / 734), JLL (230 / 294), NVIDIA (221 / 817) and Accenture (216 / 644). Health systems, a food processor, two banks, a retailer and contract manufacturing — that is the shape of the national week, and none of it is attributed to North Carolina by this data.

The wider picture

A week of fast growth in new postings is not the same as a growing pool of work. Site-wide there are 56,999 open listings from 692 employers, and while 10,394 roles opened in the last seven days, 20,209 closed. Openings are running at roughly half the rate of closings right now. Remote roles made up 3% of everything new this week.

One more scope note: only 12 states show new postings this week on the boards we crawl, so the state ranking describes our tracked footprint, not the American labor market. If you want to see what actually opened, the North Carolina jobs page and the general job search are the live view.
