What we do
Detroit Diesel Corporation is an American manufacturer of heavy-duty diesel engines, transmissions, and axles used in commercial trucks, buses, and other vehicles. Originating from GM's Detroit Diesel Engine Division (founded 1938), it became an independent-branded corporation via a 1988 Penske joint venture before being acquired by DaimlerChrysler in 2000. It now operates as a subsidiary of Daimler Truck North America.
