Product Analyst
A product analyst studies user behavior and product performance data to help product managers and designers make informed decisions about features and roadmap priorities. This role typically sits within a product team at a tech company, working closely with engineering, design, and business stakeholders, and is often held by someone with a background in analytics, statistics, or business. The job centers on writing SQL queries, performing data analysis, using product analytics tools like Amplitude or Mixpanel, and running A/B tests, alongside gathering requirements from stakeholders to define what to measure.
Duties & responsibilities
- Write SQL queries and build dashboards to track product performance metrics and user behavior
- Design and run A/B tests and experiments to evaluate feature changes and measure business impact
- Analyze experimental results using statistical methods to support product decisions
- Partner with product, design, and engineering teams to define what metrics matter most
- Translate business questions into data analysis work and present findings to stakeholders
- Build and maintain measurement infrastructure and analytics pipelines as products scale
- Monitor key performance indicators to identify trends and optimization opportunities
