Construction Manager
A Construction Manager supervises building projects from planning through completion, overseeing Project Scheduling and Budget Management to keep work on time and within cost. They enforce OSHA Safety Compliance on job sites, rely on Blueprint Reading to verify work matches design specifications, and apply Team Leadership to coordinate subcontractors, laborers, and vendors. This role is typically held by professionals with construction management or engineering degrees and years of field experience supervising crews.
Duties & responsibilities
- Oversee construction projects from pre-construction planning through completion and operational readiness
- Coordinate multiple contractors, subcontractors, and trade partners to execute work on schedule
- Manage project budgets, track costs, and process change orders to keep projects within financial targets
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and design documentation to verify work matches plans
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules accounting for multiple phases and trades
- Supervise on-site safety compliance and enforce adherence to industry codes and standards
- Lead pre-construction activities including constructibility reviews, estimating, and bid evaluation
