Stone Put

Stone put is a traditional strength athletics event, closely related to shot put, in which competitors throw a heavy stone for distance, often featured at Scottish Highland Games and other Celtic or folk athletic gatherings. Unlike the standardized metal shot used in track and field, the stones vary in weight and shape by event tradition. It showcases raw throwing power and is considered an ancestor of the modern shot put.
