Shotgun Start

A shotgun start is a golf tournament format in which all groups of players begin play simultaneously, each starting at a different hole rather than sequentially from the first tee. This allows the entire field to finish around the same time, making it popular for charity outings, corporate events, and tournaments needing tight scheduling. The name derives from the historical use of a shotgun blast to signal the start of play.
