Powered Gliding

Powered gliding refers to flying a motorglider, an aircraft that combines the aerodynamic efficiency of a glider with a small engine that allows self-launching and sustained powered flight. Pilots can use the engine to climb and then shut it off to soar on thermals like a conventional glider. It appeals to glider pilots who want independence from tow planes or winches.
