Pétanque

Pétanque is a French outdoor game in the boules family, in which players throw hollow metal balls trying to land them as close as possible to a small wooden target ball called the cochonnet. It originated in the early 20th century in the town of La Ciotat in Provence, southern France, and is traditionally played on hard-packed dirt or gravel courts. Casual and easy to pick up, it is popular across generations as both a relaxed social pastime and a competitive sport with organized clubs and championships.
