Paragliding

Paragliding is an air sport in which pilots fly a lightweight, non-motorized wing made of fabric, launching on foot from a hill or slope and using rising air currents (thermals and ridge lift) to gain altitude and stay airborne, sometimes for hours and over long distances. Pilots sit in a harness suspended below the wing and steer using brake lines attached to the trailing edge. It draws enthusiasts for its relatively simple, portable equipment compared to other aviation sports and the quiet, scenic experience of unpowered flight.
