Paraclimbing

Paraclimbing is competitive rock climbing adapted for athletes with visual, physical, or intellectual impairments, contested on indoor climbing walls where competitors are classified by impairment category (such as visual impairment, limb deficiency, or short stature) and scored on how high or how efficiently they climb a route. Visually impaired climbers may be guided verbally by a sighted assistant calling out hold locations. It is governed internationally by the IFSC and appeals to participants for the problem-solving, strength, and mental focus climbing demands, adapted to a wide range of physical abilities.
