Geohashing

Geohashing is an outdoor recreational activity in which participants navigate to a randomly generated set of GPS coordinates each day, calculated using a hash algorithm applied to the date and a stock market closing value. Inspired by a 2008 xkcd webcomic, players ("geohashers") often meet up at the day's location, which can range from mundane spots to remote wilderness, documenting their trips with photos and logs. It appeals to those who enjoy adventure, unpredictability, and exploring places they otherwise never would have visited.
