Palant

Palant is a traditional Polish bat-and-ball team sport, related to lapta and rounders and considered one of the historical ancestors of baseball. Players on a batting team hit a small ball with a wooden bat or paddle and then run between bases while fielders try to get them out by catching the ball or hitting them with it before they reach safety. It was historically popular as a schoolyard and rural game in Poland and is still played today in a modernized, standardized form.
