Longball

Longball is a colloquial term most often used in baseball to describe hitting home runs, as in a slugger known for "the long ball," and in soccer to describe a direct tactical style of hitting long passes forward rather than building play through short passing. In both contexts it refers to a power- or distance-oriented approach valued for its ability to quickly change the course of a game. Fans and commentators use the term to describe both a playing style and standout power-hitting or power-passing performances.
