Jeu De Mail

Jeu de mail is a historic French lawn game, popular from the medieval period through the 18th century, in which players strike a wooden ball with a mallet, trying to advance it along a course or through targets in as few strokes as possible. It is considered an ancestor of both croquet and golf, and was played in dedicated alleys in French towns and gardens.
