Go

Go is an ancient abstract strategy board game originating in China over 2,500 years ago, played by two players who place black and white stones on a 19x19 grid with the goal of surrounding more territory than the opponent. It is renowned for simple rules but extraordinary strategic depth, making it popular among competitive players in East Asia and increasingly worldwide, with professional leagues especially strong in China, Japan, and Korea. Its complexity famously made it one of the last classic games where computer programs struggled to beat top humans, until AI systems like AlphaGo succeeded in 2016.
