Wingsuit Flying

Wingsuit flying is an extreme sport in which a person wears a special jumpsuit with fabric membranes between the arms/body and legs that create airfoil surfaces, allowing controlled forward glide and reduced fall rate after jumping from an aircraft, cliff, or other high point (often as part of BASE jumping). Flyers deploy a parachute to land safely, and skilled pilots can achieve glide ratios that let them fly close to terrain such as mountain ridgelines. It attracts thrill-seekers pursuing the closest human approximation to unaided flight, though it carries substantial risk.
