Gateball

Gateball is a team sport invented in Japan in 1947, similar in concept to croquet, in which two teams of five players use mallets to hit balls through gates and against a goal pole within a set time limit. It is played on a rectangular court and emphasizes teamwork and strategy, with players supporting teammates' shots as well as their own. It is especially popular among older adults in Japan and other parts of Asia as a low-impact, sociable outdoor activity.
