Camel Wrestling

Camel wrestling is a traditional spectator sport practiced mainly in the Aegean region of Turkey, in which two male camels, aroused by the presence of a female in heat, grapple and push against each other while muzzled to prevent biting. Handlers and referees intervene to separate the animals once a clear winner emerges or the match becomes dangerous. Held during winter festivals, it draws large crowds and is valued as a link to Turkey's nomadic and Ottoman-era pastoral heritage.
