Chilean Rodeo

Rodeo chileno (Chilean rodeo) is Chile's official national sport, in which two riders called a 'collera,' mounted on trained Chilean horses, work together to corner and pin a young steer against a padded section of wall within a crescent-shaped arena called a medialuna. Riders are scored on precision and technique as they guide the animal around the ring using their horses' bodies rather than ropes. It has deep roots in Chilean rural and huaso (cowboy) culture and remains a popular spectator event, especially in central Chile.
